Countdown 5,

His Catness is 2 & 1/4 months old today.

Karolina the wonder breeder said that if HC doesn't have any problems with his shots we can look at the end of August as a "Coming Home" date. With this firmly in mind, I ask for my days off (holiday to acclimatize the cat - rock on!) and lo
ok for a spot on a plane. HC lives in Czech (Prague) and I live in Germany, and this part will need to be discussed with DH beforehand of course, once I get prices. But that'll be this week, as I want to get everything all ready for HC to be here.

Have you ever noticed (especially if you're a dog person) the sheer amount of crap one cat has to have? I feel (in defense of my dog) rather affronted: Cat toys abound! (Do they really need a little la-zer toy?) Litter boxes! Fancy litter holders! (More on that in a minute) Little - or HUGE - "cat" trees! Holy Dog, they even have cat grass! It's like Candyland for new cat owners, but if you are not planning enough ahead, it's Candyland in a money-sink.

Happily enough - I have been carefully purchasing what *I* determine he needs for three months (now it just needs to get here), and am now down to the final bits. But SUCH final bits! Feast your eyes on:

The Cat-carrier! (with specials hugs to the DH - I know you're going to love THIS!)

Oh yes - RED crocodile faux leather! I roll on the floor laughing.

Then I found:
The LitterLocker! (purchased especially with the DH in mind)

This handy little treat stores the cat "by-products" out of harms way - no dog can get in it (which I suspect the KOAHS might be tempted to do), the by-products aren't in the kitchen or bathroom rubbish (also gooood) and it's supposed to keep *any* odor out.

I've looked and looked online, and it seems to be quite the cat thing. So of course he got it.

I even broke it down and got him a little mat for in front of his bathroom, so his feet stay nice and clean. And this cat litter! I mean honestly, why so many types? "Clumping" and "non-clumping", it even smells of baby powder. Holy dog.

Note: maybe all the dog toys and treats are bigger, or maybe I only get the posh stuff for KOAHS, but this cat stuff seems to be awfully inexpensive. I guess we'll see as we get more used to it.

The KOAHS is not a big "playing with toys" type of dog. His son plays soccer with the DH and his brother, but the KOAHS would prefer to watch from the sidelines, if you know what I mean. It should be very interesting to bring a crazy, playful kitten into the house. I know I keep saying this, but it's true: KOAHS is in for a nasty shock.

Other animals move during the day! They come and hang on the couch! Interaction! Gasp! Shudder!

I haven't had a cat in years and years, the DH: never. But I'm so excited to bring in such a handsome baby to be ours. I'll probably say it again, but thanks Karolina, for our little Cat Highness.
